"We support Breast Cancer Awareness because it has affected some of us personally and awareness is the first step in early detection." -James Erwin, Staff Accountant, Mississippi Power "How ironic, the 15th of October is National Mammography Day. It will be one year to the day that I lost my Mother Brenda Ellison to Breast Cancer the 15th of October 2020. My Mother's mom died in 1982 from the same thing. My Mom was the greatest person to be around and loved family but, she didn't like going to the Doctor even though she knew there was a family history of breast cancer. She didn't keep up on her Mammograms and exams and it cost my Mother her life. I have lost two precious people that were taken too soon. Please stress the importance with your loved ones ( Grand Mother, Mom, Sister or friend) to keep up on there Mammograms and exams. It could possibly save their life and keep breast cancer from stealing them away from their loved ones. "we've all been touched by this terrible Cancer."-Randy Rochefort,GIS Data Analyst, Alabama Power "I support Breast Cancer Awareness because my aunt passed away from it. Her doctor did not recognize the lump she felt. I believe if she had gotten a second opinion she would be here today. However, after a year had gone by, her doctor detected the lump she expressed ,but it was too late to get the help she needed to fight. In addition, although we associate Breast Cancer to women, men can also have breast cancer. My dad is a current survivor of this deadly disease. It was his sister who had passed from it and he refused to become the next victim and do nothing. This is my why to support Breast Cancer Awareness! Last but not least, if you have close family members, please take ownership and get the BRCA testing. It is a Cancer Risk and Genetic Testing."-Teresa Morris, ERG President of ADAPPT "My mother and my aunt are cancer survivors "-Creighton Harris-Dorsey, CST "I support Breast Cancer Awareness because I don't want those who are effected fight alone. "-Lynette Saxton, Construction Administrator - Construction Operations " I am a 6 year survivor and I have two sisters that are survivors as well. I feel that my family is blessed due to early detection and I encourage women to get your mammograms and self-exam weekly!
