Reliable Energy Critical During Hot Summer Months

Most of us just flip on a power switch and a light or electrical device instantly powers up. In fact, we typically take it for granted! But, as you would expect, quite a bit takes place behind the scenes for us to enjoy the benefits of having electrical energy readily available.

Earlier this year, we shared a video from our "Nuclear in a Nutshell" series on how nuclear powers your life. This time around, let's look at how nuclear powers the economy and your local community.

Employee groups bolster Plant Hatch's support of Relay for Life

Recently two of Plant Hatch’s employee resource groups, North American Young Generation in Nuclear (NAYGN) and Women in Nuclear (WIN), teamed up to field a team for the Toombs County Relay for Life event in Lyons, Georgia. Plant Hatch served as a silver sponsor for the event, but the relay team took things to another level with the additional $1,700 they raised from fellow employees. The team conducted radiation dress out races against time to raise additional donations and participated in several other teams’ booths and games to help other teams' efforts. The team took a special interest in the sumo wrestling and Fear Factor-inspired booths and enjoyed the delicious nachos that Georgia Power had on hand at their booth.

Special thanks to NAYGN Chapter President Nathan O’ Connor and WIN Chapter President Janaye Bailey for their organizing efforts and leadership with the relay team and the American Cancer Society/Savannah for putting on an enjoyable and impactful event.
