GEORGIA POWER WINS NATIONAL CONSERVATION AWARD

Whether it’s providing recreational opportunities, installing eagle cams at Berry College or providing a bird’s eye view of the annual whooping crane migration via the Crane Cam, Georgia Power is committed to preserving the environment and fostering an appreciation of the natural beauty of our region.

Georgia Power is also a certified member of the National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) and a recent recipient of the Energy for Wildlife Award at the organization’s 39th annual Convention and Sport Show.

"It is great to have a partnership that works for the conservation of wildlife and habitat, while continuing to serve the citizens of our state," said Ron Shipman, vice president, Environmental Affairs for Georgia Power.

The NWTF determined this year's award winners based on how their work strengthens the organization's new “Save the Habitat. Save the Hunt.” initiative. Georgia Power partnered with the NWTF to restore habitat to more than 400 acres of upland habitat on high-voltage power line rights of way servicing the Vogtle Nuclear Plant, and has planted more than 1.4 million trees across Georgia in the past five years.
