PLAY IT SAFE AT GEORGIA POWER LAKES

Did you know that if you’re in Georgia, you’re never too far from a Georgia Power lake or park? That’s because Georgia Power is the largest non-government provider of recreation facilities in the state. With more than 30,000 acres of wildlife preserves, 15 lakes and 8 campgrounds across the state, Georgia Power lakes have something for everyone. Come spend a day – or even an entire weekend – fishing, swimming, boating or camping surrounded by picturesque scenery, beautiful trails and abundant wildlife.

In honor of National Safe Boating Week (May 16 – 22) Georgia Power would like to remind you that before you visit one of our recreational areas, take some time to learn about water safety – including Georgia’s new boating laws and regulations, life jacket requirements, swimming safety tips, rules of the road and more. For example:

• Always Swim With a Buddy: when people swim together, they can help each other or go for help in case of an emergency.
• Actively Supervise Children around Water: stay within arm’s reach, minimize distractions, and consider taking child and infant CPR to learn effective, life-saving techniques.
• Always Wear Your Life Jacket: today’s life jackets come in a variety of models and sizes, making them easy to wear for adults, children and even pets!

(Note: children under 13 are required by law to wear a life jacket while onboard a moving vessel unless the child is within a fully enclosed cabin)
